Elliot's First Haircut

Elliot has spent the majority of his life with no hair, so when it started to grow, it took a little getting used to.  We left it as long as we could, but finally had to get it cut.  Unlike his bigger brother's first hair cut, Elliot LOVED the salon.  In typical Elliot fashion, he smiled the entire time they were cutting his hair.

Noah's First Day of Preschool

The time has come, and it's time for Noah to head to preschool.  Sniff, sniff....that's mommy getting a little teary-eyed wondering where in the world the last 4 years went.  Never the less, we are super proud of Noah and know that this is just the beginning of his fun school career.  We were fortunate enough to find two other families in town that are also sending their kids to the same preschool so that we can ride share, and each of us only has to drive the kids once a week.  So far Noah has loved preschool, and I continue to be amazed at the things he learns.  Giving up his nap has proven to be the greatest challenge, but he is working through it and getting used to the new schedule.
Starting the tradition...he will hold the
sign on the first day of school for the next 12 years :)

State Fair 2013

Grandpa Randy came down to visit this year again to join us at the State Fair. Elliot had to stay at daycare (sorry buddy, maybe next year!) while Grandpa, Mommy, Daddy and I went to the fair for the day.  Just like most other things that we went to this summer, it was at HOT day.  So hot that none of us felt like eating our favorite fair foods (bummer). Mommy and Daddy took turns taking me on rides (since we had pre-purchased tickets, we had to use them up) while Grandpa sat in the shade watching.  We drank a lot of water and lemonade that day, and despite the hot weather, had a good day.
Still  a little scared of horses, much
better than last year though

Camping 2013

Much to mommy's dismay, the time came once again for our annual camping trip with our daycare friends.  Mommy tried to use every excuse to get out of it (Noah broke his arm and shouldn't be near sand with his cast, it's too hot, Elliot doesn't sleep well in a tent), but we ended up going anyway.  And we are glad we did, because we have so much fun with our friends when we go camping each year.  It was one of the hottest weekends of the year (100 degrees during the day, cooled down to high 80's at night), but we made the best of it and had fun anyway.  On the last day, however, Elliot was acting weird after he got up, he spiked a high fever, and just clung to mommy.  Mommy and daddy were worried about him, so we packed up quickly and headed home.  Turned out he had some sort of flu bug and was better in a few days.

First Broken Bone

Well, it only took 4 years, 2 months and 12 days, and we have our first broken bone! (But who's counting).  Noah was playing on the neighbor's play set one night when he jumped off the slide and fell on his hand.  He complained that it hurt, but like any good parent would do, we told him he was 'fine.'  And he was (or so we thought), so he proceeded to play catch with daddy,  and go over to a friend's house to jump on the trampoline before going to bed.  When he woke up, however, it was a different story.   His arm was swollen, and that's when we knew we had a problem.  A tiny little buckle fracture in his arm, so the pediatrician wrapped it in a temporary splint before we could see the orthopedic doctor that casted it.  6 weeks later,  and his arm is just like new!
What a trooper with his temporary splint
Check it out!
Or course he picked a red cast
All healed up!

Minnesota Zoo

Well, it's time again to get our blog up to date.  We are SUPER behind this time, so we will try to catch everyone up quickly with all of the fun stuff that has been going on over the past few months.  Summer went too fast, but we kept busy and had something to do almost every weekend.  One weekend (we don't remember when anymore since it was so long ago, ha!) we went to the Minnesota Zoo.  This was Elliot's first time going, and he loved it!  Both boys had a great time, despite the hot weather (high 90's).  We took a lot of water and ice cream breaks, and ended the day at the zoo's splash pad to cool off.  Here are a few pictures from our day:
