Week at the lake

Okay, so I know it's been awhile, and I've been a horrible blogger lately! My mommy just changed jobs, so that caused us to fall behind. Now that everything is all settled, we hope to send updates more often. Back in August we went to spend a few days with Grandpa and Grandma Ploeger and then out to Ottertail lake for a week with the Owens side of the family. I had a good time at the cabin, but I came down with the flu while I was there and was sick for most of the time which was a drag. Mommy and Daddy even had to take milk away from me because it was upsetting my tummy so much. I got to drink soy milk for 2 weeks and it was yummy. Here are a few pictures from my week!

I got to help Grandma snap beans. I didn't really understand the concept, and kept eating the raw green beans. Grandma thought I was so funny. I loved playing in the lake water!
I thought it was so fun and loved to splash!
I also enjoyed the sand. I even ate a little bit, but mommy didn't care for that too much. Oops, sorry mommy.
One night I got to help the grownups play beanbags. I didn't really like their rules, so I just kept picking the bags up and putting them in the hole.
There was plenty of playtime at the lake, my favorite thing to do was tackle daddy.
These are all my cousins on my daddy's side...Brady, Alison, me and Hunter. What a nice looking bunch, huh?
Uncle Jake kept taking me for rides on the floatie. I giggled every time because I thought it was so fun.
Every night mommy and daddy took me for a walk on the dock. I had very specific rules of holding their hands the entire time though. I guess the deep water is off limits at my age.
That's all for now! I promise to blog more often :)

Remembering Carrie

Saturday was a big day for me. Mommy, Daddy and I attended the "Carrie on 6K" memorial walk. Carrie used to watch me at daycare, but was in a car accident last December. I don't really remember her since I was so little, but mommy tells me that Carrie loved to play with me during the day. The walk was to help us remember her, and over 400 people showed up!
Mommy pushed me in the stroller and we walked with my friend Brady from daycare and his mommy. Here's us at the start of the race. Brady and I had already convinced my mommy to dig out the snacks :) You will notice that daddy isn't in the walking pictures. He was busy volunteering at the race, so he didn't walk with us. We saw him on one of the corners during the race though!

About a mile into the race, I started getting very crabby. Mommy didn't tell me that it would be 85 degrees, during my nap time, and boring! I made quite a scene for about 15 minutes, but finally passed out because I was so tired. I missed the rest of the race, but that's okay.

Here's mommy and me finishing up the race. We were all tired and much warmer than when we started! But, after 3.7 miles, we were done! I finally woke up from my nap too, and got to play with some other friends from daycare.

After the race, everyone got to take a balloon and release it up into the air for Carrie. The best part was that you got to write a message for Carrie to read. After seeing all these people show up to remember Carrie, I really wish I could have gotten to know her more. We miss you Carrie!

Shave and a Hair Cut? No Thanks!

Well, mommy and daddy decided that it was time for me to get my first hair cut. They kept telling me about this place all week, and it sounded like fun. When I got there, I thought maybe they were right. First, I saw Shelli and Brooklyn! I was so excited, and it looked like Brooky was have a good time getting her hair done.

Daddy showed me to the toy area, and I played for awhile, but then I started to get nervous. I made sure to check out what these people were doing, as you can see here in the picture. You will also note how much of a mess my hair was, and why this trip was necessary.

Then, mommy took me over to this nice lady who was making balloon animals. Wow, maybe they were right, this place is pretty cool. I got to pick out what kind of animal I wanted, and of course I chose a puppy. I loved it!
But then, some guy came over and said my name and said he was ready for me. I wonder what that means? Mommy took me over to a chair, and there were ladies blowing bubbles around me and a TV on the counter that was playing Nemo. This seems a little strange....
Then all of sudden this guy thinks he's going to put some sort of cape on me. I don't like this place anymore!
But it gets worse. Then he comes at me with a pointy object, which mommy tells me is going to cut my hair. I was so scared! I started throwing a HUGE fit! I needed to let them know that I wanted to leave RIGHT NOW!
The guy all of a sudden stopped cutting my hair, so I thought I had won the battle. But, then he just has mommy sit down and have me sit on her lap. He starts to mess with my hair all over again. Who is this guy?! I kept looking over at daddy to come save me, but all he could do was take pictures of me.
I finally realized that I wasn't going to get to leave, so I just hugged mama as tight as I could while this guy finished my hair.
After I got home, I realized that it wasn't so bad, and I really liked my new 'do! Here is the finished product, not too bad!
I also have some fun news to share this week. I FINALLY learned how to walk! I have been taking steps here and there, but something finally clicked and now I walk all the time. I still have my balance to figure out, but I'm getting better every day.
I keep reminding everyone how big I am too. Whenever anyone asks me, I put my hands in the air and say 'SO BIG'! I keep putting more words together every day. My new favorite word is snack, but it sounds more like 'nak'. I love to go into the pantry to pick out something and then I bring it to mommy or daddy and repeatedly say 'nak' until they give me some.
Have a good week!
